After a year of documenting the effects of COVID-19 and civil rights demonstrations on downtown Tucson, I searched for a way to find some grounding. I was drawn into the emotions and mystery of trees — their trunks, their shadows, their wonder, their vulnerability. In seeing them, photographing them, hugging them, there is healing.
